Book Week 2020.jpg

Book Week October 17-23 2020

This year Book Week will take place in Week 2 Term 4. The theme is Curious Creature, Wild Minds.

The Book Week Parade will be held on Tuesday October 20 at 9am. The students can use the occasion to dress up as a curious creature or a character from a book.

Each class will participate in a Curious Creatures drawing activity with published SA illustrator and an old scholar of St Joseph’s Tranmere, Lauren Mullinder.

There will be lunchtime activities in the library on Wednesday and Thursday for the younger students run by our Hospitality Leaders.

The students also have the opportunity to enter a competition where they can either draw or construct a Curious Creature. There will be a prize winner from each year level. All entries are to be handed in by Wednesday 14 October.

We look forward to a very curious and wild Book Week 2020!

Librarian

'Every Student Shines'

“There are three rules that make our Base Ten numeration system work.”

We all know these rules, but studies show that explicitly teaching these rules can be very powerful for learners. So, we have been very busy working with Lisa-Jane O’Connor to build a map that details how we at St. Joseph’s Tranmere explicitly teach these rules across our learning community. We have now completed three staff meetings with Lisa-Jane O’Connor as part of the Eastern Star Numeracy Project. As the president of the Primary Mathematics Association, Lisa-Jane has been collaborating with us to reinforce our contemporary approach to Mathematics. We now have a document and map on the Rules of Base Ten that lives in every Reception and Year One classroom and ensures easy access for teachers and students. We are steadily progressing towards our ultimate goal that all children at St. Joseph’s Tranmere have a powerful understanding of what mathematics is and of themselves as mathematicians.
