Dear Parents and Carers,
I am sure you are all looking forward to the Easter break with Family and Friends. It is a special time to be reminded that Jesus is alive and in our midst, and he welcomes us into a new life with him. This year we have been blessed with Easter falling before our term break. This has allowed our school community time to reflect and gather to listen to the Easter story and then provide us with the chance to return next week to celebrate the resurrection and new life. A truly special time in our church calendar.
The school board held the AGM for 2022 on Wednesday 22 March. The meeting reflected on our achievements in 2022 and highlighted the challenges of last year, especially with COVID. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the school board for their support and commitment in 2022. I would especially like to acknowledge and thank our Chair, Mr Anthony Giordano who has been in this important role for a few years. Anthony has been a very active member, assisting with all our building projects, providing his expertise and advice.
I would like to congratulate and introduce our newest member, Rachel Castellano.
Our Board members are:
Fr Roy Elavumkal SMM, (President) Anthony Giordano (Chair), Adrian Grbin (Principal), Phil Testa, Ashley Grant, Steven Crescitelli (Finance), Tatum Tadiar (Secretary), Sarah Hill, Brett Clappis, Rachel Castellano and Tanya Barrett (Staff).
I would like to thank all our members for their commitment in taking on this important role of governance and look forward to working with them throughout 2023.
As part of our professional responsibilities and boundaries, schools are asked each year to communicate to their community about the reporting procedure for child abuse and neglect. It is vital we continue to be observant and report any concerns.

Congratulations to all our swimmers for last week’s Catholic Schools carnival at the SA Aquatic Centre at Marion. You certainly made us all very proud at the way you represented our school. I would also like to thank Tara Walkley and Jacqui Edgecombe for their preparation and organisation of the team as well as our parent volunteers on the day.
Sports Academy R-2 students
Next term we look forward to Simply Sports Academy returning to our school in 2023. This week a letter and flyer has been distributed to all our R-2 students inviting them to sign up for the academy.
The coaching sessions are open to all students in R—2 who would like to learn and develop their football skills. Please contact the office if you did not receive the flyer or letter, so you can register in preparation for it starting on 10 May at 3:15pm -4:15pm on the school oval.
We look forward to the students taking up this extra-curricular activity to develop their skills and very importantly, to be active.
Please note, each term there will be a different sport academy offered for students to experience. We will provide more information next term.
Stage 2 Development Project
Each week, we continue to move closer to providing our final design and plans for start of Stage 2 of our Master Plan. This Stage, called The Learning Street Project, includes the refurbishment of two existing classrooms, the construction of three new classrooms, the construction of the initial section of our learning street complex and two new multipurpose spaces for instrumental music sessions and multi-media projects.
We hope to make the visual designs available soon on our website as well as a display in the front office. It is certainly an exciting time ahead for our school, as we look forward to new and improved learning spaces for staff and students.
I hope you have enjoyed the opportunity of visiting your child’s classroom and meeting their teacher this week. It is wonderful to be able to see the return of face-to-face meetings. These valuable conversations provide parents with an insight to your children’s learning and social development at school.
If you have not made a time, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a suitable time for next week, the last week of Term 1.
- End of Term 1 – 3pm on Friday 14 April
- Start of Term 2 – 8:45am on Monday 1 May
- Pupil Free Day – Monday 15 May – Week 3 in Term 2
Wishing you a restful and enjoyable Easter Break.
