Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are keeping cool in this current burst of hot weather.

Thank you for supporting our ‘Meet the Teacher (3 way conversation)’ evening sessions last week. I hope you found this a valuable experience, especially having your child present and part of the conversation. I know the teachers found this very helpful and a great way to connect with each family. The importance of building a positive partnership with school and home creates a solid foundation to set things up for success in your child’s learning.

COVID Update

If you are planning to enter the school buildings for any reason, please use COVID SAfe check in using the QR Codes displayed around the school. It is not necessary to check in if you are only entering the school grounds, e.g. at school pick up. If you do not have a phone for scanning, there are paper-recording sheets in classrooms and in the front office. The COVID SAfe Check-In is purely for SA Health contact tracing purposes and does not replace our normal visitor sign-in process. Please note that the school sign in procedure in the front office is still required if you are staying on the school premises, e.g. for a meeting. Thank you for your support in these matters.

I would also like to remind parents and carers to continue to physically distance especially when indoors, use the hand sanitisers that are available around the school and avoid spreading infections to others by staying home if you or your child are unwell.

Ash Wednesday

It was a special day yesterday for our students, especially our Year 4-6 students and their teachers who were able to attend the Ash Wednesday Mass. it was a wonderful experience being the first time that our school has been able to visit the church in over a year. It was a very COVID safe experience as the ashes, which are normally placed on our foreheads, was replaced with sprinkling the ashes on our heads.

Our Reception to Year 3 students were able to gather in the Parish Hall for a special Ash Wednesday Liturgy as they reflected on the start of our Lenten journey. Thank you to all our students for the way they engaged in prayer and participated in the services.

Parents and Friends

A letter will be circulated soon to all families from the P&F inviting you to be a class representative, P&F volunteer or to be a committee member. Please take some time to consider being part of our P&F for 2021 as we look for creative and COVID safe ways to engage families in our school community.

The P&F is hoping to meet soon to generate some ideas on how we can create a connection with all our families, especially our new parents. If you would like to be part of this very vibrant team, please complete the form and return to the front office.

Kind regards

Adrian Grbin
