Curriculum
Welcome to the 2021 school year! It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces on Wednesday as students saw friends and teachers after the long break.
This year teachers will continue their professional learning with Linda Clune. Linda is the Literacy consultant we have engaged to lead teachers and ESOs in the implementation of research based contemporary Literacy pedagogy in 2020. Linda will continue working with us this year as we consolidate these practices. In the coming weeks Linda will hold a reading information session for parents to discuss our school approach to teaching children to read and also how parents can support their child’s reading at home. I will provide more information about this soon.
During 2020 Brandon Dolgner was our Numeracy Coach and we began working with Lisa-Jane O’Connor who is a Numeracy consultant with the Primary Mathematics Association. At the conclusion of 2020 Brandon and his family moved to Queensland and Jessica Hicks has taken on the position of Numeracy Coach. Jessica will continue the work Brandon began with Lisa-Jane and bring her own knowledge and skills to this role. Supporting Jessica in this role will be Lois Beale and Charlotte Mason who will also attend regular workshops with Lisa-Jane. We are very fortunate to be able to be involved in such intensive, contemporary professional learning benefiting both staff and students.
