Dear Parents and Carers,
With spring in the air, and blossom appearing on the trees, it is certainly a wonderful time of the year. I would like to remind families about students wearing their hats and the opportunity for students to start wearing their summer uniform if they wish.
During the early part of spring, we have fluctuations in temperature, so we are happy for students on Tuesday and Thursday to wear their summer uniform. On the other days, students wear their sports uniform with their shorts. If you need to purchase any clothing items please contact JS Sports on 8281 7155.
Imaginative Play – “St Joseph’s School POP UP Play”
This week we introduced our Pop-Up Lunch Play for all our students. This imaginative play opportunity has been a big hit, especially with our early years’ classes. Students have the opportunity to borrow a case during lunch time play . Currently they have a selection of eight different themes including: St Jo’s Café, Pets and Vets, Games Galore, Transport, Fitness Fanatic, Farm Fun and more. The students then find a suitable location in the middle yard to play with the equipment and their friends.
So, what are the benefits of imaginative play?
Imaginative play allows kids to relax, let go, and just be kids.
Experts believe that this kind of real play can do a lot for kids’ development, improving their social and language skills, boosting their creativity and problem-solving abilities, keeping them active and making them happy.
The benefits can be across a range of areas, including: Emotional-behavioural benefits, social benefits and physical benefits.
It has been wonderful to see the students engaged, socialising and of course, having fun. A big thank you to Mrs Browne and Mrs Heaney for organising this program.
Optional Parent/Teacher Interviews
Over the next 2 weeks, teachers are making themselves available for parents to organise a time to chat about your child’s learning. This will generally occur before or after school and these meetings are optional. If you would like a meeting, please contact your child’s class teacher and book a suitable time.
Sports Day
We are preparing for our Sports Day on Friday 25 September 2020. Please be aware that this is the last day of term 3 and the students will be finishing around 12:45pm – 1pm. They will be dismissed from Murray Park Oval for the start of the holidays. If you require OSHC on this day, please contact the front office and they will send you a booking form. A program of events will be sent out to families soon. Look forward to seeing you there at a socially acceptable distance.
Kind regards
Adrian Grbin
