Dear Parents and Carers,
It has been extremely pleasing to see how well South Australia has managed to suppress the Coronavirus so far and I am very proud of the way our school has adapted to the challenges that have been placed on schools.
As we all work through the Roadmap to recovery and restrictions ease, I would like to thank our school community on the way they have responded in supporting the school. I am impressed with all our students, staff and families in how we have worked together in caring for each other during this difficult time.
We must continue to be patient and understand that returning to the ‘new normal’ needs to be slow and considered. We will continue to ensure that our school follows the guidelines set by the SA Health Department, the Government and CESA, by maintaining hand hygiene and regularly cleaning surfaces, by practicing social distancing and restricting visitors into our school.
I would like to remind families of the importance in keeping children home if they are unwell, and only returning when they are feeling completely better.
Attendance
We have 100% of our students now learning onsite, a great achievement by our school community.
Sporting carnivals and excursions
We are aligned with the current SA Department of Education advice for schools that excursions and outdoor education activities are not to occur. School sporting competitions and carnivals have been postponed at this point in time, however SA Health and the government are meeting with relevant sporting associations to try and map a way forward. If the situation changes we will keep you fully informed.
Drop off and Pick up
I would like to remind all parents and carers, if you are using the pick-up zone in Birkinshaw Avenue, you are not to wait at the top end of the street and around into Magill Road. This section of the road has a solid yellow line which means that cars are not permitted to stop and wait in this area. We would ask you to drive on and travel around the block or alternatively park in the top yard and walk to collect your child/ren. Recently the council parking inspectors have been visiting our school site at the end of the day to monitor this issue.
In addition, we ask that parents should maintain the 1.5m physical distance between themselves and other adults especially during drop off and pick up times.
Site access
SA Health has advised that volunteering (e.g. parent reading groups) and non-essential services should continue to be postponed. Parents are still very welcome to come in to the front office if you need any assistance.
Mid-Year intake – Reception
We are currently accepting enrolments for children who are eligible for our mid-year intake in Reception. If you know of any families who would be interested please contact Glenda in the front office. Children would need to be turning five during 1 May -31 October 2020.
Kind regards
Adrian Grbin
