Sacramental Programme 2019/2020

Congratulations to all the students who have been involved in this year’s Sacramental Programme.  The programme will conclude in November with Sunday Mass on the Feast of Christ the King.  At this Mass, candidates will receive their Certificates and share in the celebratory cake.  An invitation to this Mass will go out closer to the November date.

Recently, I emailed all parents of students who are on the school list as being of the Catholic Faith and who will be going into Year 3 and Year 4 in 2020.  If you have not received an email from me but feel that your child is eligible to be part of the Sacramental Programme, please contact me in the office, or email me on cthompson@stjotran.catholic.edu.au

The date for the Parent Information Meeting for the 2020 programme is Tuesday 19th November at 6pm in the Church.  It is not necessary for the children to attend this meeting.  At the meeting Fr Roy will speak about the programme plus the commitment involved.  Enrolment forms will be available at the end of the meeting and we hope to have the workshop times finalised.  At this stage it is likely (but not finalised), that the workshops will be on a Tuesday.  No dates are yet available for Confirmation as this date is determined by the Office of Worship.  Once we have a date for Confirmation, we can then set First Eucharist dates.

Natalie Bampton, who has run the programme through the Parish over the past 5 years, has resigned as the Parish REC.  Natalie is to be thanked for the commitment she has made to the Parish and the Sacramental programme these past 5 years.  She has been supportive of the school and a wonderful witness of her Catholic Faith in her role as Children’s Liturgy co-ordinator, Parish REC and leader of the Sacramental Programme.

The position will be advertised shortly.  In the meantime, if you have any queries concerning the 2020 programme please contact me at school.

St Mary of the Cross Parish Scholarship

Each year the Parish generously donates an amount of money towards the cost of school tuition  for a student who is entering into their final year of Primary School at St Joseph’s Tranmere.  For 2020 this means a child who will be entering into Yr 6.  This scholarship recognises a student (or students) who models the life of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop through demonstrating care and support for others; who shows a dedication to school life and the school and Parish community as well as a positive approach to life.  The recipient will be a person who models Christian values, shows an understanding of service and stewardship as well as being a just and fair person.  We thank the Parish for their continued support, incentive and generous gift towards the cost of tuition at the school.

School Disco

Our Disco which raises funds for Mary MacKillop Today, will take place in Week 6 Term 4.  A note will be sent home early in Term 4.  The disco will be held at lunch time and run by the Just Leadership Team. More later!
