Dear Parents and Carers,
Last week we said farewell Mrs. Nerelle Ghabriel, our Year 7 teacher as she prepares for the birth of her first child. Nerelle has been teaching in our school for the past 3 years, as a Relief Teacher, Year 3 teacher and currently in Year 7. We would like to thank her for the valuable contributions she has made towards the students’ learning and wish her the very best as she starts the wonderful journey of parenthood. We look forward to seeing her and the baby soon.
We welcome Mr. Toby Moulton into the Year 7 class. Toby is an experienced Year 7 Catholic school teacher who brings a wealth of knowledge to our school community. We look forward to getting to know Toby and assisting our Year 7 students in their teaching and learning program as well as the transitioning process into high school.
Last week our school celebrated Book Week with a range of activities throughout the week. The Children’s Book Council of Australia brings children and their families together to celebrate and promote the love of books. Books play an enormous part of any school and we enjoy highlighting Australian children’s literature especially through our book character parade. This year was no exception as children, staff and parents dressed up as their favourite character to parade and show our school community. It was a wonderful celebration of books and a real highlight of the week.
This week we had a whole school incursion around Mathematics. Classes had the opportunity to work through seventeen hands-on provocations. The students were actively engaged and enjoyed working collaboratively, to solve the real-life situations. Each session had a real buzz and demonstrated a great sense of fun, promoting a positive approach towards maths.
Last weekend many of our Year 3 and Year 4 students celebrated the sacrament of Confirmation and First Eucharist in our Parish Church. The two confirmation ceremonies on Saturday were wonderful celebrations. We thank Vicar General Fr Philip Marshall, Fr Roy, Deacon Remo, Stephanie Roach and the Parish team for their support and preparation for all our students. A special thank you to Cynthia and Natalie for running and managing the Sacramental Program this year. I certainly felt blessed to see our beautiful, happy students celebrate their confirmation and witness their commitment to our church.
I would like to wish all our Dad’s and father figures a happy Father’s Day this weekend. I hope you have a lovely spring day with your family.
Kind regards
Adrian Grbin
