Dear Parents and Carers,
There have been many amazing events, activities and incredible learning opportunities, which have contributed to a successful school year. I would like to congratulate all our students and staff for their wonderful efforts throughout 2018.
At the start of the year, I mentioned that it was the year of opportunity for us all. As I reflect on this productive year, it is important to acknowledge and thank all our students for their wonderful contributions, engagement and growth they have achieved towards their learning.
I thank our dedicated teaching and support staff for all their efforts in assisting the students with their learning and creating many productive opportunities for our students to experience and self-growth.
I would like to thank our supportive parents and carers for their valuable contributions in making the year full of opportunities. We have valued all our volunteers and their wonderful effort and valuable time in being there in times of need. As a small Catholic Parish school we rely on the assistance of families in many ways and we thank you for all that you do each year.
To our Year 7 students and their families this will be the end of their time at our school. I wish you all the very best for the future and I hope you will take with your many fond memories. We thank you for your contributions in being part of the St Joseph’s School Family. Tonight our Year 7 students and their families will be celebrating their Graduation. I look forward to the opportunity for parents, staff and students in gathering to give thanks as we reflect on their learning journey and celebrate together all their primary years. It is a very happy, fun, and emotional night where we can come together to acknowledge these incredible students and their families as we say goodbye.
To other families and students who will be leaving us at the end of the year. I would also like to acknowledge and thank you for all you have done during your time at St Joseph’s. We wish you well and hope you will take away many lifelong friendships and proud and precious memories.
All our Year 7 students this week had the opportunity to reflect on their time at St Joseph’s. I have included a reflection from Gracy.
Graduation !
It’s hard to say goodbye to something you’ve known for so long. You’ve known it for so long that you begin to take it for granted as if it’s a chore. Isn’t it funny how we can hate and under appreciate something so much that we try to resist it. It’s only when we lose that thing that’s become a part of our life you realise how important it truly is. There are so many things that we take for granted and when we don’t have them anymore we struggle more than we think we would without them.
I guess my point is that without school, the world would be totally a different place to live in. Just think of the amount of achievements made by humans wouldn’t be possible without anyone to guide us. It’s no secret that school can be tough and unbearable at time and trust me I’ve been through 8 years of it so far. The amount of late nights spent doing some sort of task I’ve procrastinated from doing the week before are endless and I don’t recommend adding any more stress. Someone once told me something that has weirdly stuck with me through everything else. It was something like ‘knock it out of the park.’
Now that might not sound like much but to me that means stop procrastinating and just do it, which is one of the greatest pieces of advice I’ve received. I thank that teacher who was at this school who gave me a something to endeavour for.
Now at the end of my primary school years if you were to ask me how my journey was, I would answer with one simple word, Fantastic. A fantastic school, fantastic learning opportunities and the people I’ve met have really been fantastic as well. If you asked me at the start of the year if was ready to be sent off I would have said never. I still feel like the little Gracy in Reception. But I’ve made mistakes, learnt from them and tried to grow as a person because of them. I can truthfully say that I’m now ready to graduate year 7.

Thanksgiving Mass
I would like to invite all our families to join the students and staff in celebrating the year at our Thanksgiving Mass on Wednesday 12 December starting at 6:30pm in the St Joseph’s Church. We will acknowledge our graduating Year 7 students and give thanks to all for a wonderful year.
Student Reports
Early next week students will be receiving their end of year report, stationery list and class placement for 2019. The student reports will be a celebration of student’s achievements and a reflection of their learning. I encourage you spend some time with your child to share and celebrate their achievements.
Finally, I would like to wish all our students, staff and families a happy and Holy Christmas Holiday. I hope you can enjoy quality family time, reflecting on the true meaning of Christmas and I look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Kind regards
Adrian
