Advent

The church has a calendar of events over the year, called Seasons.  The first season of the Church’s year begins in December and is called the Season of Advent.  Advent is a time of waiting.  We are in effect awaiting the birth of Christ at Christmas and Christ’s promise of “coming again”.  We reflect on Mary’s time of waiting for the birth of her child, and connect that with the times of waiting in our own lives.  We wait for so much to happen that sometimes we forget to live in the present.  Now is a time to enjoy all that is happening around us:  the first blooms of the jacaranda trees, the lovely colours of the agapantha flowers, the smiles of loved ones.  Let us be open to our God in the moment.

Vinnies Christmas Hamper Appeal

Thank you to everyone who has once again generously donated to our annual St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal.  It is really heart-warming to have such a wonderful response.  There are many families in our Tranmere Parish who will benefit from receiving Christmas Hampers over the next couple of weeks.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Christmas and to thank the community for the generous way you have responded to all calls for outreach to our wider community.  Happy Christmas and happy holidays!
