On Monday 26th June, many of our families turned out to hear vital messages about internet safety from Sonya Ryan, the Director of the Carly Ryan Foundation.
Sonya shared her desperately moving story and gave our parents practical advice on improving internet safety for our children. Many students, from Year 5 and above, were in the audience to hear great advice including thinking twice about what is posted online, how to make your Facebook profile private and how to turn off location services in apps. Keeping lines of communication open, limiting the amount of time spent online each day, creating a Family Online Safety Contract, and promoting social interaction in the real world was great guidance for everyone.
We have received thanks from the Carly Ryan Foundation for the $334 raised from the gold coin donation on the night. If you were unable to attend but would like further information, please contact the school office for copies of the handouts, visit: http://www.carlyryanfoundation.com
