Dear Parents and Carers,

Catholic Education Week

As we celebrated Catholic Education Week, our Year 3/4 students reflected on what does being a student in a Catholic School mean to me?

  • It means that we learn about Jesus and God and that we are all part of God’s family. We care for God’s world, like not stepping on plants, chopping down trees and respecting animals. By Max
  • It means that at our school we make new friends and get along with each other. They can be from different cultures and different countries. By Jesse
  • Celebrating different Religions, by learning about them and accepting that their Religion is different to ours. We learn about their traditions, stories and beliefs. By Thomas.

Throughout the week we posted many great student responses on Facebook, please check it out. We also gathered at a liturgy in the hall to celebrate as a school community and during prayer the teaching staff launched our CESA learning statement.

Community

Over the last few weeks I have experienced an amazing sense of community. Being part of a community is an essential expression of who we are. Community doesn’t just happen, it is something that we must all work at. We are called to participate and be in partnership. Recent examples of community for me have been, the whole school staff and parish team coming together for a morning tea, our P & F meeting to discuss and plan many important events, families meeting me for an enrolment interviews, welcoming 10 first year student teachers from UniSA and working with the Middle Years teachers to plan sport for students to use the facilities in the local community.

These are just a few of the many examples that celebrate our sense of community. There are many ways that we can promote community in our wonderful school. Supporting events such as the Quiz Night and attending the Cybersafety information session are excellent ways of creating a vibrant and supportive community.

I look forward to seeing you at any of the school events and coming together in partnership to share in the community of St Joseph’s Tranmere.

Kind regards

Adrian Grbin
