Moore Street Soup Run Plus

24.05.17

Moore Street Soup Run and Rain Poncho collection – Thursday June 22nd.

Once again we are calling for volunteers to make soup to feed the homeless at the Adelaide Day Centre in Moore Street in the city.  Moore Street is a day centre catering mainly for homeless men in the Adelaide city area.  The Centre was set up originally by Sr Janet Mead, a Mercy sister, and has been successfully reaching out to homeless men for many years now.

We are asking for containers of homemade soup (freshly made or frozen, in spill proof containers) to be brought to school at morning drop off time.  The soup is delivered to Moore Street in time for volunteers at the centre to prepare for lunch.

Suggestions for soup include Pea and Ham, Chicken and Corn, thick vegetable soup with beans – any soup that is hearty and filling!

Last year our soup run was very successful and warmly received by staff at Moore Street:  the generosity shown by the St Joseph’s Tranmere community was outstanding.  We look forward to another successful pairing with the Moore Street Centre.

If you can help with soup, please contact Cynthia Thompson in the office or via email:  cthompson@stjotran.catholic.edu.au   Thank you!
