Beyond the Classroom

Students at St Joseph’s Tranmere are encouraged to take part in a wide range of extended learning opportunities:

The Arts

Through the instrumental program children can learn piano, flute, guitar or singing;
every two years we hold a school performance night involving children throughout the school and in 2016 we hosted our first SALA event.

Sport

Our school enters the SA Catholic School Sports Association carnivals each year (swimming, athletics, cross country, netball and touch football) and we have school teams for soccer, netball and cricket.

Travel

Classes also attend excursions that link with classroom learning.
Students in year 6-7 have the opportunity to go to Canberra for a week long immersion in all that our nation’s capital has to offer.
In the alternate year we go on a camp closer to home.

Festival Choir

Each year our students have the opportunity to join the Festival Choir, a mass choir from Catholic schools throughout the state, which performs the Festival Theatre. This event is always a great night out that showcases the rich musical talent of students in Catholic schools. We are proud of our long association with the Music Festival and love offering this opportunity for our students.
